I also have spent a significant amount of time recently with folks who were not affected by the flood, who cannot imagine losing everything, who may not know anyone who has ever been homeless.
I spend a lot of time between these two groups.
One group has virtually no material goods -- but many other resources like creativity, generosity, and many relationships.
One group has many material goods and yet spends much of their time thinking that they don't already have everything they need to be generous, to do God's work, to practice philanthropy.
I keep thinking that these two groups really need each other. Although they may not know that they need one another -- there is a lot to learn and a lot to teach between these two groups.
